2021 rules
General Track Rules
All drivers must Marshall after completing their race. Racers in the last race are responsible for marshalling the first race. Marshalls must check in with race director to receive credit. Racers unable to Marshall are responsible for finding an alternate.
Racers must drive from drivers stand unless physically unable to.
Will typically run three qualifying heats but maybe modified based on available time.
Heats will typically run 5 minutes but may be less if we have a large number of entries and concerned about completing the races before dark.
Borrowed transponders must be returned to the race director after the heat/race
Mains are typically 5 minutes
Shoes must be worn at all times
No glass items!
No alcohol on premises.
Any driver deemed to have impaired driving ability will not be allowed to participate. Race director/owner has final say.
Racers are expected to be ready to race when called on deck (next to race). Racers should move to the northwest area by the drivers stand to be ready.
Heat Races
Each racer will participate in at least two heat races. All first round heat racers will be randomly sorted, and all heat races will use a rolling start. Heat races will be re-sorted when needed and time allows between rounds based on the most laps in least time. The fastest racers from round one will be resorted together and will make up the “A-Heat” of round #2. After the re-sort, you will be sorted into a heat with racers who performed similar to your first round time if time allows for this. Heat races will be four minutes in duration unless announced prior to the start of the race.
MAIN EVENTS
All classes, except novice, will run 5 minute main events. Novice main event will be 4 minutes. Racers will be organized into events by the following chart:

MAIN EVENTS
All classes, except novice, will run 5 minute main events. Novice main event will be 4 minutes. Racers will be organized into events by the following chart:
MAIN EVENT LINEUP:All main events will be lined up according to qualifying position. Lower main transfer drivers will start in the back spot.
TRACK PROCEDURES:During practice all cars must start from the pit area. Drivers must be on the driver stand during practice so that they can call out their car stuck on the track and to hear other drivers as well call out their car. Marshals may not work on or repair cars. All cars must enter and exit the racing surface via the pit lane. Cars damaged and placed in the infield will remain there until the race is over. All cars will be made available for tech inspection before and after each race. Once a car has gone through tech before the race it must go directly to the track and not to the pit area. All cars must have a personal transponder, or it will not be scored.
RACE FORMAT8 cars maximum per heat race and Main Event. There will be no fewer than 2 rounds of heat races, unless poor weather or other uncontrollable circumstances arise.
SCORING ISSUESIn the event that laps may have been missed by the scoring system, please let the race director know IMMEDIATELY after the race in question. The race director, will investigate the situation. It is a judgement call for the race director. It is the racers responsibility to have transponders in perfect working order. The race director will do everything possible to ensure proper scoring in any event, but a non-scoring transponder is not the race director’s fault.
Qualifying All drivers are required to line their car up at the track entrance at the designated time. Cars may not be pulled out to work on, etc. Violation of this rule will result in a 1 second penalty on qualifying time. Cars will be lined up randomly as determined from the race director.
When told to do so, the driver will have his car enter the track and their official time begins when they cross the start/finish line. They will complete three laps. The driver’s fastest lap will determine their starting position.
Tech Inspection Racing at Back Lot RC Raceway is meant to be a fun event. We hope every racer does his best to make his/her vehicle compliant. If you have any questions, please see the Race Director for guidance. Bottom line is drivers are responsible for their vehicle and its compliance.
In the spirit of fair competition, all racers are encouraged to visit the tech table and inspect their own vehicles.
Vehicles must be available before and after the heat/main for tech inspection. Failure to make your vehicle available could result in a disqualification. Vehicles will be randomly selected for inspection prior to the race. Some, all, or no vehicles maybe inspected prior to the race. At a minimum, the top three finishers will automatically be inspected at the end of the race. Any challenges questioning the vehicles compliance will be considered for inspection.
Out of Spec Competitors
Out of spec competitors will be allowed to participate in the class closest to their car but will not be eligible for points or awards for the race.
Driver Ability
At the discretion of the race director or track owner, the driver may be asked to complete a few laps on the track alone. The driver will be evaluated on their ability to drive and may be required to complete a lap in a specified time. If a determination is made that the driver does not meet the ability, they will be allowed to race in the novice class.

Marshals can make the day go smoothly or difficult. We prefer it go smooth. Marshal the heat after your race. If you can’t marshal, have someone cover for you. Only individuals excused from marshaling are those with physical disabilities and children under 14, but they are responsible for finding someone to cover or notifying the race director.
There is no room for verbal abuse, period. If you disagree with someone, take it to the side and discuss, there’s no need to air dirty laundry or dirt throwing. If the disagreement cannot be resolved, please contact the race director.
We strive to have a family friendly environment. Please refrain from foul/vulgar language inappropriate in a public conversation. We understand sometimes frustration results in an occasional word be thrown out there not intended to leave our mouths, but every effort needs to be made to make those mistakes as infrequently as possible.
